Today, the first episode of the series, in which a new teacher is being sought for the autumn season of Tanssii Tähtien Kanssa, was released on the MTV Katsomo service.
Helena Ahti-Hallberg, who has been a judge in the program since the third season, and star teacher Jutta Helenius are looking for a new teacher in the TTK: Tähtiopettajaa etsimämäsa series.
– Eight professional dancers have been invited here for auditions, from which a new star teacher will be chosen, Helenius says at the beginning of the first episode.
The teacher trainees are presented with dance challenges, with which Ahti-Hallberg and Helenius decide on the winner.
A star teacher at TTK requires much more than just dance skills: they must have the ability to be flexible, creative and able to withstand pressure. In addition to all this, you have to be a good teacher and Choreographer.
In the first episode, eight professional dancers are introduced, who seek access to TTK’s live broadcasts. Many of them have a solid competitive dance background.
Probationers also get to do real work right away. They have received in advance two familiar choreographies from previous TTK seasons to learn.
Now their task is to perform dances with the drawn couple. Time for training with a couple is only 45 minutes.
Another of the choreographies is the tango danced by Christoffer Strandberg and Jutta Helenius, the winning couple of the 2019 season.
– In addition to your dancing skills, the judging criteria here is, of course, how well you can adapt your own dance with a completely new partner in a short training time, Ahti-Hallberg says.
The five episodes of the series will appear on consecutive days, and the new star teacher will be revealed on August 4.
The first episode of TTK: Looking for a Star Teacher can be seen on the MTV Katsomo service.
