In the north of the Netherlands there is a chance of snow cover of up to 3 centimeters on Thursday, elsewhere it will be very cold

An area of precipitation will move over the Netherlands from the south on Thursday. This means a lot of rain for the south and center, but in the north and northeast there may be wet snow and it is possible that a snow cover of 1 to 3 centimeters may temporarily develop locally, Weeronline reports.

Our country will temporarily experience colder air on Wednesday and Thursday. It will be a maximum of 7 degrees on Wednesday and in the night to Thursday it can cool down to around freezing point, with a regional risk of frost. According to Weeronline, a rain area that will move from south to north across the country from Thursday morning will create an “interesting situation.” In the center and south it is 3 to 4 degrees cold and it rains heavily with locally 10 to 20 millimeters.

In the Northern Netherlands it is colder and precipitation falls as (wet) snow. If it snows hard enough, it can temporarily turn white and there is a chance of a local snow cover of 1 to 3 centimeters that will remain for a while. It may therefore be slippery, especially in the province of Groningen. It will be warmer again on Friday and during the weekend it can even reach 14 degrees locally in the south of the country, where Carnival is celebrated. It is still uncertain whether it is dry.
