The disappearance of Richey Edwards remains a mystery. PDO

Richey Edwards was a former gig bus driver who became the guitarist and co-lyricist of the Welsh band Manic Street Preachers due to member changes.

He really made headlines in the winter of 1995, at a time when Manic Street Preachers’ career was on the rise.

Edwards disappeared at that time. left his hotel room on February 1, 1995 and disappeared.

On the day of his disappearance, Edwards had driven to Cardiff. His car was found about 50 kilometers from the Severn Bridge. One theory has Edwards jumping off that bridge into the water and drowning.

Despite the search, the body has not been found.

Right at the beginning of the search, something went wrong. Before his disappearance, Edwards had signed in at the toll booth and it was initially thought that the sign-in had taken place at 2:55 p.m. Only years later did it become clear that the clock was a 24-hour clock, so to speak, and the correct time was 2:55 in the morning.

So the time of disappearance was wrong for a long time.

Before his disappearance, the guitarist had suffered from mental health problems and drug addictions. He had also been in drug addiction treatment.

Something about Edwards’ problems could be hinted at by his behavior in May 1991. A reporter had asked how serious the Manic Street Preachers were. Edwards’ reaction to the question was terrifying. He carved “4 real” into his hand, meaning “seriously” in Finnish.

Edwards had to go to the hospital because of the cut and had 18 stitches.

The band’s front man, soloist James Dean Bradfield after the disappearance established a bank account for Edwards, where Edwards’ share of the profits from the songs is directed.

On Everything Must Go, released in 1996, Edwards’ playing was no longer heard, but the lyrics he wrote were included.

Finally, in 2008, Edwards was pronounced dead.
