Alexandra Popp is not available for the national team for the time being. The 31-year-old captain tested positive for the corona virus at the EM training camp in Herzogenaurach and was immediately isolated.

According to the German Football Association (DFB), the striker’s test from champion and cup winner VfL Wolfsburg was positive after she had previously felt slight symptoms. The following checks on the entire squad and staff all yielded negative results. In the general test at the beginning of the training camp, Popp had not yet received a positive result either.

Last endurance test against Switzerland without Popp?

The team of national coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg completes the final endurance test before the European Championships in England (July 6th to 31st) on June 24th in Erfurt against Switzerland. Popp might miss it.

With 113 international matches, the 31-year-old is the most experienced player in the German squad. It was only in April that she celebrated her comeback in the DFB team in a 3-0 win against Portugal in the World Cup qualifier after a break of almost a year (a cartilage injury in her knee).
