The Swedish royal family rejoices: This year we will finally be able to celebrate the birthday of King Charles XVI Gustav with traditional expenses.
Kaarle Kustaa turns 76 on April 30.
In the previous two years, the king’s birthdays have been left to a small family celebration due to the corona pandemic.
With strict interest rate restrictions now being lifted, Sweden will be able to arrange traditional birthday expenses for the king.
The public will also have something to see and hear.
The festivities are held at the Royal Palace, where at least choral songs are heard. 21 artillery shots are fired from Skeppsholmen and the king is also receiving congratulations from the public, which was not possible during the pandemic.
There are also promises of the whole royal family blinking at the people.
In Sweden, in particular, it is gratifying that after the coronation, the royal family can reunite. The king is allowed to enjoy the company of both his children and grandchildren in large numbers on his feast day.
However, Princess Madeleine is not arriving in Sweden before the summer. Her family, who lives in the United States, last visited the princess’s birthplace at Christmas.
After the official and public celebrations, Kaarle Kustaa will retire to continue the celebration privately with his family.
