The tightening scandal in ski jumping continues to employ the scene. The long -term consequences of the fraud that the Norwegians have admitted are not yet foreseeable. The Polish ski jumping icon Adam Malysz sees the future of sport acutely endangered if teams and world association cannot agree on serious changes.

After the manipulation of ski jumping suits became known, consequences and consequences are discussed intensively that can prevent cheating in the future. However, the Polish sports director Adam Małysz does not believe that the World Association FIS is aware of the precarious situation. Sport needs a “revolution”, the 47-year-old told “Przegląd Sportowy”.

“However, I have my concerns that the FIS will bring about a revolution,” said the ski jumping icon and attributed this to racing director Sandro Pertile in particular: “It’s a bit like talking to a wall. We need changes that ensure real improvements.” The willingness to do this is missing from the Italian, says Malysz.

Ski jumping: Malysz is worried about spectators

The ski jumping is therefore “a difficult season. Real experts are used, data must be collected and everything has to be improved so that the number of spectators of ski jumping is increasing again, because they are declining. The scandal affects even more, but even without them everything went in the wrong direction,” the former world-class athlete is concerned.

In the changes that the fraud will result in the material, however, you have to make sure that the spectacle is not neglected, says Malysz, who fears that the re-tightening of the suit regulation has a negative effect on the width of the jumps.

“I know that health is the most important thing, but there is rarely really long jumps, the discipline loses importance. For all of this, you need rules that are clear to the viewer. Do we otherwise want to do competitions for empty stands?” Noted the sports director Poland.
