Ad services have seen an increase in demand and supply from Russians over the past month

Over the past month, on ad services, Russians have been looking for masters in the repair of equipment, various procedures in the “beauty and health” category, the manufacture of custom-made furniture, tutors in Hebrew, Turkish and Georgian languages

Ad service experts interviewed by RBC told which specialists were the most popular among Russians over the past month.

  • According to the representative of “Avito”, the specialists in the installation of equipment were the most in demand among them. Demand for them in March increased by almost 2.5 times compared to the same period in 2021, and by 79% compared to February. Supply also increased by 17% and 16%, respectively. Also, Avito saw a growing demand for equipment repair and maintenance services (+45% compared to March 2021), cleaning services (+38%), beauty and health services (+37%). The number of ads in these categories increased by 15%, 58% and 23%, respectively. A company representative explained the dynamics by massive purchases of new household appliances, as well as a reduction in supplies, which stimulated people to repair their existing appliances. After Russia launched a military operation in Ukraine, and a number of the US and the EU imposed restrictions on high-tech exports to Russia, a number of manufacturers announced the suspension of the supply of their products to the country, including American Apple, South Korean Samsung, etc.
  • According to a representative of the Yula service, their demand for equipment installation and repair services in the period from February 24 to March 29 increased by 18% compared to January-February. The best growth among users of Yula was in the category “beauty and health” (2.2 times), the production of furniture, clothes, shoes and accessories to order (2 times), business consulting, accounting, legal services (+ 46%), training and tutoring (+45%), car services (+41%), computer services (+39%), “master for an hour” offers (+35%). In general, the demand for the services of performers on Yula and in VKontakte ads (as well as Yula is part of the VK holding, formerly called Mail.ru Group) has grown by 38% since February 24. The number of proposals for this period increased by 1.7 times.

  • Olga Chernyavskaya, head of YouDo PR service, said that from February 24 to March 30, they recorded a significant increase in the number of performers on the service – by 40% compared to January-February. The most active users offer their services as vehicle repairmen (in this area, the increase was 45%) and computer assistance (+44%). At the same time, the number of users who offer their services is growing. New performers are registered in the categories of events and promotions (an increase of 43%), software development (+42%), copywriters, translators, SMM managers, personal assistants, as well as household assistants, photographers and videographers (+41%), said Chernyavskaya . According to her forecast, in the future the number of those wishing to find new sources for part-time work will grow.

According to Chernyavskaya, the observed dynamics is due to changes in the consumption of Russians, a change in their behavior. “Users refuse from the usual and not “burning” services, such as apartment cleaning, delivery, beauty services, while actively dealing with pressing problems, for example, restoring equipment and things. All this can lead to a new “dawn” of the sharing economy and the growth of conscious consumption in general,” she argues. Thus, the number of orders in the event category on YouDo decreased by a third, the demand for photographers and videographers decreased by 25%, designers – by 22%, couriers – by 20%, beauty masters – by 19%, cleaners and housewives – by 14%.
