De Privé asks Jandino Asporaat point-blank whether the rumors about possible marital problems are true. “So you’re not going through a divorce? That gossip has been going on for a while,” said the journalist on duty.
Things are not going well between Jandino Asporaat and his wife Shirley, claims the juice channel Reality FBI. She is currently said to be living abroad, while he is staying in the Netherlands with the children. Why? “They have opted for a ‘break’ which means that they live separately for a while, but are not necessarily apart.”
Jandino emigrated
Jandino now provides clarity: he reveals on the page Private that he and his entire family emigrated to Curaçao. “We wanted to give Elijah, Amy-Lee and Nió what I grew up with: island life, but also freedom,” says the comedian. “They knew it from the holidays, but now they actually live in Curaçao.”
Will he give up his career in the Netherlands? No. “That’s right, it’s certainly not goodbye, I’m going to live in two worlds. Every month I spend two weeks in the Netherlands. Then I tour various theaters in the Netherlands with my theater shows and I also do big shows in the Brabanthallen, Ahoy and Afas Live.”
FC Kip
Jandino’s catering companies, FC Kip and Het Huis van Asporaat, also remain in his hands. “After those two weeks, I will fly back to Curaçao and hold discussions with entrepreneurs and youth institutions, for example, to help the islands.”
What will his wife Shirley do? “She will work at Hòfi Mango and focus on her personal growth. (…) Shirley has always given me the space to work on my career, she was there for the family. And now we are turning the tables a bit. She can now do what she likes.”

Jandino concludes: “You sometimes catch things like that when you are at a party somewhere, for example. But if you have been in this profession long enough, you learn that you don’t have to react to everything.”
