In pictures: Sunny first edition of Hoogeveen City Festival

The first edition of the City Festival was held in Hoogeveen yesterday. The sold-out music party was previously planned, but was postponed twice due to the corona measures.

In the city, 7,500 people, divided over three stages, saw, among others, Snelle, Bökkers, Waylon and Hannah Mae perform. In addition to the Mainstage, there was also a special stage for so-called tribute and cover bands. There were hits from Pearl Jam, ABBA, CCR and Queen, among others.

The Hoogeveen City Festival is an initiative of De Tamboer/Het Podium and producer New Republic from Deventer. Local companies are also involved in the festival and there is collaboration with the asylum seekers center and scouting. “A great example of the local reinforcement we are looking for”, says chairman Pieter-Bas Rebers. “We want to organize a beautiful, pleasant day for young and old with fantastic music, but also add value to Hoogeveen.” According to Rebers, the intention is to organize the City Festival more often.

Our photographer Kim Stellingwerf was also there and took the photos below.
