Southeast Drenthe will be all about carnival in the coming days. A procession of decorated floats, dressed-up partygoers and typical carnival squatters appear in various village centers.
Tonight the spectacle started with an illuminated parade in Emmer-Compascuum, or Kainbongelstad as the village is called during carnival. Photographer Kim Stellingwerf made the photo report below.
