Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares drove DS’s ultra-high-performance electric prototype. A technical exercise that should anticipate the technologies that could equip the next generation electric single-seaters. Not only that: in terms of autonomy and charging times, the vehicle introduces new elements that could have positive repercussions also on series products. Tavares traveled the street circuit of the Principality of Monaco, the current stage of the Formula E championship. DS Techeetah is one of the most promising and best integrated teams in the competition, having already obtained two world titles in previous editions. A reality in line with the ambitions of the French brand, which intends in the medium term to abandon combustion engines to become an exclusive manufacturer of electric cars. Official Motors he will test the car in world exclusive on Sunday morning at the Le Castellet circuit, after his baptism on the track with Tavares.

8,000 Nm of torque

The prototype data sheet is remarkable. Equipped with two electric motors, 339 hp on the front axle and 475 hp on the rear axle, the system power reaches 816 hp for 8,000 Nm of maximum torque (and this is the most surprising value). To power the power unit, a new generation battery developed in collaboration with TotalEnergies (French energy giant). Housed in a carbon-aluminum casing, placed in a central rear position to optimize weight distribution, it has unprecedented chemistry and an innovative cell cooling system. Futuristic technologies laid on a body designed by the DS style center in Paris. Since this is a technical exercise far from the series product, new creative proposals have been applied, such as the more than 800 LEDs that make up the front light clusters, the 21 “alloy wheels with aerodynamic profile and the changing color susceptible to atmospheric conditions.
