In Milan, medical visits “suspended” for vulnerable children and families

L‘they called medical visit “suspended”, referring to the tradition of suspended coffee in Naples, but which in this case serves to offer quality healthcare treatment to those who cannot. A simple, but also concrete, gesture that Welcomed decided to reinvent for the first time in the medical field.

Medical examination suspended, a gesture of solidarity for those who cannot

The initiative of the health center dedicated to the most fragile Milanese children and families, launched in Milan, works in the same way as suspended coffee. The fund which, however, in this case allows for the provision of services, services and projects free of charge, is powered by the reinvestment of 100% of Welcomed’s profits. Donations from patients, private individuals, companies and foundations also contribute to making the project work, as well as fundraising initiatives and participation in tenders and requests for contributions.

1100 square meters of space for the health of children and their families

The Centro recently opened its third branch, again in the Lombardy capital, a space in via degli Olivetani of over 668 square meters, on two floors. There are 17 clinics of different specialties, a gym and a space dedicated to strengthening the practice and courses for parents. The overall offer thus reaches three locations, with 31 specialist practices and over 1100 square meters of spaces dedicated to the health of children and their families. In the first six months of 2023, 6,887 free services were provided by Welcomed70% of which in favor of minors.

The ISEE counts, but from this year it increases

Free services they are dedicated to those with an ISEE under 8 thousand eurosalthough this year the partial suspended visit for those with an ISEE of 15 thousand euros, believing that even the city’s middle class, if perhaps there is a therapy that needs to be done for a longer time or if there are long-term treatments to be undertaken, may find it difficult to pay. Therefore, evaluating the ISEE of the unit and the health needs, the Welcomed team will draw up a personalized project for each recipient, aimed at improving the care and well-being of everyone and guaranteeing each of them the same quality compared to the same paid service.

To access the initiative you must be reported: There are over 100 Welcomed partners including public bodies, hospitals, schools and third sector bodies. It is these realities that indicate to the healthcare facility those individuals and families who are in economic difficulty. An important Welcomed reality that is developing at a time dramatic for Italian healthcare which is in deep red, especially in some regions where waiting lists for medical visits have surreal times, and is preparing to suffer further cuts. Cuts that will inevitably push a number of citizens to turn to private individuals, or at least those who can afford it, given that they are particularly penalizedas always, they are the weakest sections of the population.
