TAmong the events not to be missed this weekend there is definitely the homage of the island of Ischia to the figures of Federico Fellini and Angelo Rizzoli. The Illuminata Association and the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Lacco Ameno present, in fact, the reading Reading the cinema – Fellini 8½, inspired by the famous work of the director from Rimini. It will take place at 9.30 pm on Saturday 2 September in Piazza Santa Restituta, in Lacco Ameno.
The link between Ischia and Angelo Rizzoli
As is known, the island of Ischia owes much to the figure of Angelo Rizzoli, entrepreneur, publisher and film producer among the most important in our country. The founder of Rizzoli Editore, in fact, was one of the names that contributed most to the tourism and social revitalization of the island. Also for this reason, a review with the title has been created Tribute to Angelo Rizzoli.
The famous entrepreneur, in fact, settled in 1956 in the marvelous “Shrub villa” (now a museum) and took over the ancient Greek-Roman baths in the municipality of Lacco Ameno. Enlarging them, he built the first luxury hotel on the island (the famous “Queen Isabella”), which in a short time entered the top thirty in the world. As, Ischia immediately became a destination for movie stars (and not only). To further consolidate its link with the island also the fact that in 1962 it was inaugurated – precisely in Lacco Ameno – the first hospital on the islanddonated by Rizzoli and named by him after his wife Anna.
8½ by Fellini, a double Oscar film that made history
Among the initiatives of the review Tribute to Angelo Rizzoli it’s right there the reading inspired by Fellini’s film 8½, film (produced by Rizzoli) that made the history of cinema. In fact, considered as one of the cornerstones of world cinema, the film starring Marcello Mastroianni won two Oscars: al Best Foreign Film and ai Best Costumes to Piero Gherardi in 1964.
On stage they will go up Joseph Zeno (in the role that belonged to Marcello Mastroianni) e Lucianna De Falco. With them also Laura Jacobbi, Alessandra Calabrese, Salvatore Ronga and the soprano Antonella Iacono.
De Falco, who conceived the project (multimedia format based on reading the scripts of the great masters of Italian cinema) together with the journalist Gianluca Castagna, explained. “I’m really happy to report Read the cinema on the island of Ischia after the exciting experience dedicated some time ago to the filmography of Luchino Visconti. One of the main objectives of the format is to reveal to an increasingly young and numerous audience new perspectives and different points of view on the great masterpieces of Italian cinema, celebrating their beauty and universality through the screenplay».
And, compared to choosing a film like 8½, he added. «We thought of this film, so extraordinary and so complex, to remember the genius of Fellini, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of its release in theaters and above all pay homage to the figure of Angelo Rizzolihis commitment to the film industry, both as a producer of some of the great masterpieces of Italian cinema, and as a distributor of films that have marked the culture and customs of our country”.
