The actor Harrison Ford, made world famous by blockbusters like “Indiana Jones”, “Blade Runner” and “Star Wars”, is setting out for new shores: at the age of 79, the American accepted his first leading role in a series. This was reported by the industry journals “Variety” and “Hollywood Reporter” on Monday (April 4). For the ten-part comedy series “Shrinking” Ford will be in front of the camera as a behavioral therapist. He mimics Jason Segel’s mentor, who not only appears as the second main actor, but also as the producer.

Psychiatry is not closed

Both film characters are psychiatrists by profession, but with very different approaches: after a stroke of fate, Segel’s character has got used to throwing tried and tested therapy methods overboard and frankly telling his patients what he thinks about them. Ford, on the other hand, appears as a pioneer of behavioral therapy, who proceeds in his down-to-earth, tried-and-tested way – but after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s he has to put his own life to the test.

Start of transmission still uncertain

In addition to Jason Segel, who became known to a broad public primarily through “How I Met Your Mother”, Bill Lawrence is also involved as a producer for the Apple+ series. He has previously proven his skills as the creator of the Golden Globe-nominated comedy series Ted Lasso. From when “Shrinking” flickers across the screens remained under wraps for the time being. What is certain, however, is that Harrison Ford will be seen in cinemas for the fifth time in his life as Indiana Jones next year: The German film release of the adventure film is scheduled for June 29, 2023.
