French authorities will oblige children from six years old to wear masks in public amid a sharp increase in cases of infection with the omicron strain of coronavirus. This is stated in the government decree, hosted on the portal of documents of the cabinet of ministers.
“The obligation to wear a protective mask referred to in this decree applies to persons aged six years and older,” the document says.
Previously, the requirement to wear masks applied to children aged 11 years and older.
France allowed an increase in the number of cases of COVID up to 250 thousand per day
The decree will come into force on January 3. Children will need to wear masks from Monday, in particular, in public institutions, temples, catering establishments, transport, on sports grounds, indoor markets and train stations.
