Impressive tribute to the crashed Ruud (45) from South Scharwoude

An impressive funeral procession said goodbye to Ruud Besseling from Zuid-Scharwoude this afternoon. He died last week in an accident on De Helling in Sint Pancras. The procession left from his home in Zuid-Scharwoude to the crematorium in Schagen.

At Ruud’s house, dozens of friends from an Ajax supporters group had formed a guard of honor and brought a final greeting with torches. Fifteen trucks from the Alkmaar transport company where Ruud worked as a planner also joined the funeral procession.

Investigation could take months

45-year-old Ruud Besseling died after a 31-year-old motorist from Heiloo flew out of the way and several cyclists, including Ruud Besseling, hit. The motorist was arrested. He turned out under the influence of alcohol and had no driving licenseys. The man was released on Tuesday pending investigation. The investigation is expected to take months.
