Impressive exhibition about African wildlife in Knokke-Heist

For his project, Tom mainly traveled around East Africa to photograph wild animals. Remarkably, he did not use telephoto lenses for this. Jones stood up to two meters in front of the wild animal and then it was important to remain very calm. Tom’s special and dangerous approach means that as a viewer you also have the feeling that you are standing right in front of the animal.

Five past twelve

The original recordings were in color, but Jones presents them in black and white for the sake of timelessness and artistry. The result may be impressive, but Jones notes that it is five past twelve. “The habitat for the animals is really shrinking. These animals are also under enormous pressure due to climate change. That makes it very distressing. So we must work hard to preserve nature reserves,” the photographer explains.
