Important breakthrough in estuary navigation

This is not yet legally possible, but it would be a huge boost for the sector. The opening up of the port in Zeebrugge is a historical problem. Vessels of more than 2500 tons can already sail a limited coastal route between Flemish ports, but they cannot enter the Western Scheldt.

And to make this so-called estuary shipping even more efficient, it must also be able to go to Dutch ports. That is not allowed now because it is an international trip with much stricter standards. But our country has now worked out a solution with the Netherlands.
