Lazio Rome has warmed up for the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 against FC Bayern. The capital city team won 3-1 (1-0) against newly promoted Cagliari Calcio on the Mediterranean island of Sardinia on Saturday. Lazio welcomes the German record champions this Wednesday.
It was the fourth defeat in a row for second-to-last Cagliari. Sardinia, coached by Claudio Ranieri, fell behind in the 26th minute thanks to an own goal from Alessandro Deiola. At Lazio, club record scorer (for statistics) and ex-Dortmunder Ciro Immobile (49th) as well as winger Felipe Anderson (65th) were successful. Immobile celebrated his 200th goal in Serie A, 168 of which he scored in the Biancocelesti jersey. In the all-time Serie A top scorer list, only seven players are ahead of the top scorer, whose contract in Rome is valid until 2026. Gianluca Gaetano, who was on loan from Naples in the winter, scored the next goal for Cagliari (51′).
