Images show how gunman opens fire on Brussels Zuidlaan | Brussels

Disturbing video footage has emerged on social media showing a gunman opening fire in Brussels’ Zuidlaan. After firing the gunshots, the man quietly takes off on an electric scooter.

The shocking video lasts barely 19 seconds, but it is clear that it concerns a shooting in the center of Brussels. The driver of an electric scooter, apparently driving quietly, suddenly hears the sound of gunshots in the distance. While filming himself, he approaches Zuidlaan at house number 138, where he stops abruptly and takes out a gun.

“What’s wrong, asshole? What is wrong? Drive!” the gunman shouts before firing twice. The man then quickly takes off on his scooter, after which the video ends abruptly. The images were published on YouTube on Thursday and caused many outraged reactions.

Night shop

It is not known exactly when the video footage dates. A few hours before the fatal shooting on Wednesday morning at Jacques Franckplein in Sint-Gillis, shots were fired at a night shop in Zuidlaan at around 1.30 am. It is not clear at the moment whether there is a connection with this shooting incident. On Sunday evening there was another gunfight in the Lacaillestraat nearby.

The Brussels Capital Ixelles police zone has been informed of the video, but was unable to say to which facts it could be linked. However, the images leave little to the imagination and suggest that this is just the tip of the iceberg of what happened in Brussels in recent days.
