‘I’m not in someone’s pocket like Evert Santegoeds’

Angela de Jong fights tooth and nail against the image that she can easily be influenced if her employer takes over RTL. “How they do that at Shownieuws doesn’t work for me.”

There is some concern about Angela de Jong’s position now that her employer DPG Media intends to take over RTL Nederland. Some people fear that Angela will be influenced by this and may write less negatively about the RTL programs. According to the opinion diva herself, this is really nonsense.

The boss decides

It is particularly funny that the experts at Shownieuws are concerned, because friend and foe agree that they mainly do what John de Mol approves of. “I’m surprised about it. When I’m watching a discussion on Shownieuws, while they are all ‘journalists’,” says Angela AD Media podcast.

Her right-hand man Marcus den Blanken: “You understand that it is said at Shownieuws, because there you just notice…”

Angela: “The boss decides. Yes, that could be possible.”

‘I do not know’

Manuel Venderbos, who in addition to the AD Media podcast also presents Shownieuws, reacts uncomfortably. “I do not know. I ask everything I want to ask when I sit there at that desk.”

Marcus: “Yes, but you are the presenter. I have the feeling that the experts are a little influenced every now and then.”

Manuel: “I haven’t found that out yet.”

Marcus: “No, I’ll take it for myself. You will notice that there is…”

Angela: “You know who has Ronald Molendijk in his pocket. Yes, you really notice that when he talks.”

Impressionable

Dennis Jansen, media journalist from AD, comes to the defense of the Shownieuws experts. “They say what they think or not?”

Marcus doesn’t think so. “I sometimes doubt that, that it is not entirely their own opinion, but the opinion that has been discussed with them in advance. From: we think this. Not even like: you have to say this, but that they are influenced.”

Manuel: “I don’t have that idea.”

Guido and Evert

Angela then brings in Private boss Evert Santegoeds and Story boss Guido den Aantrekker. “I always think: it is no coincidence that Shownieuws includes the editors-in-chief of the major tabloids. That saves a lot of hassle for certain people in that company (Talpa, ed.). But unfortunately it doesn’t work that way for me. I write what I want.”

She would never allow herself to be silenced, according to Angela. “Then how do you think it works? Do you think shareholders are going to call a columnist and say: ‘This is no longer allowed to be written?’”
