‘I’m not going to stop’

Robert ten Brink doesn’t care that Tina Nijkamp thinks it’s a bit cheap that he still lends himself to all kinds of lottery commercials. “I’m not concerned with that at all.”

Critics wonder whether it is ethical for a celebrity to advertise a lottery. Such a game of chance mainly appeals to many people from the underclass and they can spend their money better than on expensive lottery tickets. Yet many stars do it, and not the least. A-star Chantal Janzen has also been criticized for it.

Robert disses Tina

TV professor Tina Nijkamp also does not understand why Robert ten Brink still advertises the Friends Lottery so diligently. “Why does Robert ten Brink still do this? He’s been there for a long time and already has a state pension!”, she wonders. According to her, the same applies to Irene Moors. “Will this still fit in 2023?”

What does Robert think about that? He leaves in the Weekend know that he doesn’t care about Tina. “I’m not really concerned with what everyone thinks about everyone else. And certainly not with what I think of others. I just really enjoy the work.”

Television work

It’s not that Robert is short of money. “My contract has been extended,” he reveals. “Until? I’m not saying that.”

He does have a café in Amsterdam that cost him an incredible amount of money during corona times. “Fortunately, some money is coming in again, because I received enough of my own money during corona. This has been the most expensive hobby of my life. It cost me a lot.”

Staff

Where did all that money go? “If you want to keep your staff during corona times and continue to pay them without support, it will cost a few cents. Fortunately, I didn’t have to do that alone, but together with my business partner.”

Does Robert suffer from corona debts? “You know what it is, I’m not a bar owner who has to make a living from it. So we don’t get a salary from it, which makes a big difference. And now fortunately something is coming back, because the terraces are full. The beer tanks are being emptied.”
