Queen drummer Roger Taylor has spoken in an interview about the future of the band and his solo career. “I’m now approaching the end of my career – but I’m still working and I love it, I really enjoy it,” the 73-year-old said in an interview billboard.com.

“I don’t have any solo ideas right now. I think Queen will be touring again,” Taylor replied when asked about his upcoming projects. That will probably only happen in a year. “Brian and I are both really enjoying what we are doing now. We don’t do anything we don’t feel like doing, but luckily we’re still able to do it – if we want to.” In 2021 Taylor released his most recent solo album “Outsider”.

“If it brought Taylor Hawkins back, I would return the Order”

Taylor was last seen on stage at the second tribute concert for the late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins in Los Angeles. Along with Brian May and musicians like P!ink and the remaining Foo Fighters, he played Queen songs like “We Will Rock You” and “Somebody to Love”. In March he was awarded the Royal Order of Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) by the then Prince Charles, now King Charles III. presented, dedicated to Taylor Hawkins.

“If it would bring him back, I would return the order,” said Taylor now – and raved about the second tribute concert in Los Angeles. “It was a real rock parade,” he said. “One act after another and a parade of drummers like you’ve never seen, all the best rock drummers in the world. It was an amazing night, just a wonderful night for my amazing friend Taylor.”

He also addressed the death of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II. “It was, of course, a mammoth event in the UK. She was sort of the one fixture in our lives,” Taylor said. “She’s always been there. She’s on the money. She is on the stamps and has been the great constant in British society throughout my long life. In a way, the Queen was everyone’s imaginary mother.”
