‘I’m disappointed that I fly so often’

Eloise van Oranje wants to join Extinction Rebellion, just like Carice van Houten. She worries a lot about the world and is disappointed that she flies so often herself.

According to Eloise van Oranje, it is time for people to change their behavior, because she believes the world cannot continue like this. The countess, who continuously makes the farthest flights – from America to Japan and everything in between, wants to become increasingly committed to this. She even wants to follow Carice van Houten.

Flight shame

Sustainability is so important, says Eloise. “Yes. My brain is constantly working on it. If there is any food left, I immediately think: shit, food waste. There is always a split second in which I ask myself whether something could be more environmentally friendly. I consciously use water, energy, plastic and clothing.”

She flies around the world to cuddle influencers like Anna Nooshin and Robbert Rodenburg. She feels very bad about that. “At the beginning of this year I was very ashamed of flying, I became nervous about how much I flew. But the stupid thing is that I also like seeing the world. I try to compensate for that in my daily life.”

Just like Carice

Eloise believes that people should follow her example. “I am very concerned about the climate. I don’t really say it, but lately I’ve been wondering more and more whether I want to bring children into this world. What will the planet look like in fifty years? I don’t know, but I feel like the world is really going to hell shits and giggles.”

She continues: “Am I affiliated with Extinction Rebellion? No, but I have had a lot of contact with Carice van Houten. Sounds stupid, because of the hustle and bustle I’m not thinking about joining them right now, but who knows at another time.”
