Ilves star defender Adam Clendening was banned for five games for his trick on Friday.

The league’s disciplinary delegation decided on the punishment on saturday night. Clendening hit Jukurien with his club Michal Kovarcikia to hand.

Kovarcik was running away in the drive-through. First, Clendening tackled the Jukurit attacker and then punched him in the hand.

– The disciplinary delegation considers that Clendening’s fouling, taking into account the game situation, the force of the blow and the manner of doing it, very recklessly endangered the opponent, so a ban should be imposed for the situation, the disciplinary delegation reasoned.

In the match, Clendening received a 5+20 minute game penalty for his trick. He was suspended and did not play against JYP on Saturday

Clendening will therefore miss Ilves’ next four matches.

American Clendening, 31, has been a top addition to the SM league. The defender has played 23 games and scored 6+15=21 points in them.
