The heaviest category of Iltalehti’s game tips, “Games of the Day”, ended up with a return rate of 107% last year. Out of 113 clues, 66 were correct.
The result was the best of the tip column in its current form. The number of tips and returns for the games of the Day in the previous three years have been 2021: 163/96%; 2020: 92/105% and 2019: 192/100%.
Last year’s results were also good for the other two sections of the column, “The most interesting game of the day” and “The best betting tip of the day”. The best betting tips ended up with a balance of 566 tips, 321 hits and a return rate of 101%, and the return of even the most sportingly interesting matches was practically lost (229 tips, 129 hits and a return of 99%).
The number of tips is increasing
The year 2022 was also a record for the number of hints in the current format. In total, 795 items were hinted at in the Most interesting game of the day and Best bet tip of the day sections last year. As a hint, a game recommendation of some coefficient is calculated.
On an annual basis, with the current format, the number of tips has developed as follows: 2019: 639 tips, 2020: 477 tips, 2021: 729 tips and 2022, 795 tips.
Picks of the day are made from the best picks in the Best bet tip of the day section. In my opinion, they are meant to be almost certainly cases of over-multiplying. Quite often I leave borderline cases or slightly overmultiplied objects out of the Games of the Day.
More and more “early hints”
Betting at Veikkaus has been the subject of strong development in recent years. Nowadays, however, the company still calculates the coefficients itself in several series. This means that the starting odds are often delightfully different from the rest of the market.
However, when approaching the start time of the game, Veikkaus (quite naturally) almost always changes its odds to match the rest of the market.
On the tips front, this means and has already meant that there are even more so-called “early tips” on the site, i.e., for example, a tip for a match of the weekend already on Tuesday, the odds of which are likely to be under a lot of pressure to change odds.
In the hint accounting (track), I take into account the early hints so that if the same object is hinted again on the day of the game, it is counted in the track only once. However, for example, items hinted on a different line or separately marked with a double hint, I naturally count twice.
During my entire Iltalehti tipster career, which started in 1998, I have given 5527 “highest category” game tips with a return rate of 104.6%.
