Ilse Warringa once a mega hit, now a big flop: ‘What a disappointment’

Ilse Warringa has written TV history with the enormous success of De Luizenmoeder, but her career has clearly entered a downward spiral. “What a disappointment.”

The Lice Mother was such a great success that Ilse Warringa will never be able to surpass it; everyone understands that. But now she has really ended up on the other side of the spectrum. She closed her eight-part comedy series Cast yesterday and it was a mega flop: yesterday 59 thousand people (1.1 percent market share) watched the ending.

Huge flop

The programs around it attracted three to four times as many viewers. RTL Boulevard ratings connoisseur Joost Maiburg writes: “The last episode of Cast had a dramatic 59 thousand viewers. The season attracted an average of 169 thousand viewers. It also did little to postpone, so the series will go into the broadcast archives as a flop.”

Viewing figure expert Tina Nijkamp is also shocked. “Ise Warringa won’t believe what she sees. The last episode of her series Cast has only 59 thousand viewers (?!). Incredibly sad numbers. Even Ruud and Olcay score a little more in the replay: 68 thousand viewers.”

‘What a disappointment’

This is very painful for Ilse, says Tina. “What a disappointment this series has become for Ilse and the linear viewers. And after the flopped Five Live by Linda de Mol, another proof that TV series about the media and TV world are not found interesting and/or fun by the viewer, but especially by people in the media themselves.”

NPO 3 has really become a major problem channel this TV season, she says. “First Dates scores much less (repeated too often) and really all new programs flop (except Vrouwen die Varen). Shame. So the wrong programs seem to be selected every time by the program team.”

Delivery room?

After the disappointing start of Rutger and the Nationalists last Tuesday (249 thousand viewers), NPO 3 also started opposite the second semifinal of the Eurovision Song Contest with a new program: the Belgian drama series 1985. “These figures were also disappointing: 201 thousand viewers .”

After that, the last cast could be seen. “And the rest of the evening is also a drama. Time for action. The ‘delivery room function’, self-proclaimed by the NPO, has not been fulfilled at all. So things will really have to change there in terms of programming and promotion.”
