Ilse DeLange as Eurovision bobo? ‘No, she really is a secret!’

Ilse DeLange must succeed Cornald Maas as the important Eurovision bobo at AvroTros, says folk singer Dries Roelvink. “She has a feeling for the right people in the right place.”

It is almost certain that the AvroTros Eurovision selection committee will be in trouble after the debacle with Mia & Dion. Especially the resistance against Cornald Maas has grown enormously. Shouldn’t this man, who enjoys horrific house fires, just get out? Yes, thinks Dries Roelvink. He came in yesterday On 1 with an alternative.

Ilse as ESF bobo?

Dries thinks that everything should be different. “It has been very strange this year, of course. That committee is a small club and they have failed a few times. They can leave me now. Then either a new committee must be set up, perhaps led by Ilse DeLange.”

Why Ilse? “She has proven that she has a feeling for putting exactly the right people in the right place. (…) Either there should be a new committee led by Ilse DeLange or there should be a National Song Contest with preliminary rounds and a final. That could be a fun TV show.”

“No Duncan!”

In any case, no more Duncan Laurence, says Dries. “This year that committee has said, ‘Okay, we’ll leave everything to Duncan Laurence. You can make the song, you decide which artists it will be.’”

He continues: “Then he comes with inexperienced people. He lets them record the song in the wrong key, then he throws them to the lions in Madrid and Amsterdam, then they adjust it and he gets all the energy out of the song.”

“Remember Jeangu?”

Proponents of the current Eurovision team of AvroTros claim that they have also hit the mark a few times, but according to Dries there have now been enough misses. “Jeangu Macrooy, am I pronouncing that right? How did you like it?!”

Dries himself also made an attempt to participate in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, but his entry did not make it. A fragment of that song was broadcast yesterday in Op1. Fellow guest Angela de Jong: “I’m not a music connoisseur, let me put that first, but I don’t think this would be very successful at the Eurovision Song Contest.”

“What a secret!”

All in all: So Ilse in the Eurovision committee? Well, Yvonne Coldeweijer probably votes against. She is punctual in her latest Juice Show not only Ilse’s Eurovision quarrel with Waylon, but also the recent media row with Arcade lyricist Wouter Hardy. He has in it AD revealed what Ilse is really like.

Wouter reveals how Ilse pressured him to lower his royalty percentage: “Verbally, but she also grabbed my arm and squeezed it very hard. She thought the proposal was ridiculous and said I stuck a knife in her back. She demanded that I go down. I was still a rookie, looked up to the great llse DeLange very much and did not know what hit me.”

Yvonne, who recently spread spicy juice over Ilse, concludes: “K*twijf. Excuse me, can I say it? Well, sorry. What kind of secret is this? We are increasingly finding out what she is really like.”

Anouk then?

Does Jordi Versteegden, media reporter for De Telegraaf, have any suggestions? “I was thinking at once: can’t we put Anouk in the selection committee? Of course she has also come a long way and does understand music,” he says in the podcast Strictly Private.

Co-host Evert Santegoeds is skeptical. “Yes, but there are more people with an understanding of music and with Anouk you also get everything you need. It’s possible. In any case, it will have to be a different selection committee.”
