The first secretary of the PSC, Salvador Illa, This Saturday he showed his “confidence, enthusiasm and hope” before the investiture of Pedro Sanchez as President of the Government, in contrast to those who, in reference to the mobilizations of the PP and Vox against the amnesty, are fueling “fear, tension and resignation.”
On a visit to the Besòs wastewater treatment plant, Illa stressed that the President of the Government has the “trust” of the Catalan socialists in the decisions that it will have to adopt imminently in relation to the members who will form part of its executive.
The leader of the PSC has downplayed to the disagreements between Sumar and Podemos regarding the formation of the new Government and has stated that he “retains” the 179 votes in favor of Sánchez’s investiture, which included the parliamentarians of those two left-wing formations.
Regarding the demonstration that this Saturday brought together PP and Vox again in Madrid against the amnesty, he stated that he understands that there is ccitizens who “disagree”, but he stressed that “in a solid democracy like Spain’s, politics is made from the institutions.”
After insisting that Spanish democracy is “very solid, much more so than some think”, he appealed to “everyone” to respect it, when asked about the statement from retired soldiers calling for Sánchez to be removed and new elections to be called.

Likewise, Illa has shown prudent regarding the survey by the Center for Opinion Studies (CEO) of the Generalitat, which reveals that 30% of Catalans reject the amnesty, and has asked to allow time to pass for these decisions to “settle and the citizenship I can digest them.”
