A few weeks ago, we tested an egg peeling tip circulating on Tiktok. It inspired readers to tell their own tricks.

Boiling and peeling eggs are topics that everyone has an opinion on.
They can also sometimes go horribly wrong. In a story published in Pippur a few weeks ago, the chef Risto Mikkola tested a tip circulating on Tiktok.
Enthusiastic about this, the readers of Iltalehti sent in their own peeling tips. They repeat the same gimmick: scare the ripe eggs.
Tips from IL readers:
1. “Put the eggs in cold water and let the eggs cook. Pour off the hot water and let the eggs dry. then cold water over them. A dried egg shrivels and the shell comes off easily when the egg has cooled.”
2. “Put those eggs in cold water. Bring the water to a boil and then off the stove and wait 10 minutes. Drain the water and wait for the eggs to dry. Rinse with cold water. Then the eggs in a tall dish, where a drop of oil and shake. You don’t need to peel each egg separately and one by one.”
3. “I personally put a jug of water in the freezer ten minutes before cooking, so it stays in the freezer for about 20 minutes until the eggs are ready. In that time, the water in the jug does not have time to freeze, but it is cold. Pour the water over the eggs all at once and let them sit in the pot for about ten minutes. The shells come off very easily without leaving a single piece of egg with the shells.
4. Spoon the eggs into the boiling water, when the eggs are cooked, pour off the water and at this point the egg shell will dry out. Then only cold water on top, when the egg is “scared”. After that, the eggs are peeled by rolling them lightly between the table and the palm of your hand. The shell comes off easily.
Remember!
Removing the shell from a fresh egg is sometimes really difficult. Eggs that are about a week old are the easiest to peel.
