Iltalehti tested whether an egg can be cooked on hot asphalt at Himo’s Iskelmä Festival.
Himos is celebrating the Iskelmä Festival this weekend. We reported earlier how the temperature of parties organized on an asphalt field rises almost to sauna readings.
But does an egg fry on hot asphalt?
On Friday, the temperature has risen to 30 degrees in Himos. When you touch the asphalt with your hand, it feels distinctly hot, even burning sensitive fingers.

When you break an egg on the asphalt, you may notice that it drips for a moment, but eventually it settles down. After a few minutes, you can see some drying around the edges of the egg, but you can’t call it fried.
After a good 15 minutes of waiting, the result is clear. You can see the answer by watching the video above.
Iskelmä Festivals are celebrated in Himos from Thursday to Saturday.
