IL follows: Queen Elizabeth’s funeral

Queen Elizabeth’s funeral will be celebrated on Monday.

The queen who died at the age of 96 Elizabeth II will be buried today, Monday. Iltalehti follows the events of the funeral day in this story.

Guests start arriving at Westminster Abbey at 10 o’clock Finnish time. The blessing ceremony starts at 1 p.m. Before this, the coffin has been brought to the church in a procession from the Palace of Westminster.

About 2,000 guests will attend the funeral. Among the guests are international heads of state, past and present British politicians and royalty from European courts.

After the hour-long blessing service, the casket is transported in a convoy to the Wellington Arch, where it is loaded onto the hearse. The car will transport the Queen to Windsor, where another service will be delivered.

In the evening, the queen is laid in a private service to the grave of her husband’s prince Philip’s beside.
