Came second George Russell called himself after going wide on his last lap. The Brit might have been able to undercut Verstappen’s pole time.
Bottas sparkled
Bottas’ session was excellent. The Finn posted top times in every section of the time trials. In Q3, the big reward came when he managed to wedge himself between the Ferraris.
Breaking the Big Three hegemony is a big deal.
Bottas was the alpha of his team. Guanyu Zhou was clearly behind his teammate, remaining in the second section.
Bottas’ success was a blessing for Alfa Romeo, when both Aston Martins were already stuck in the opening section.
Alfa and Aston are in a tight battle for sixth place in the manufacturers’ series. The difference is only three points in favor of Bottas’ team. In addition to fame and honor, it’s about a prize pool worth millions of euros.
