Cross-country skiing star Iivo Niskanen won the men’s 10-kilometer intermediate start race of the Finnish championship in Inari SC skiing in an overwhelming manner. The SM gold is Niskanen’s 11th in his career.

Perttu Hyvärinen, who took silver in the Championship, was 46.5 seconds behind Niskanes. Came third Niko Anttolawho was more than a minute behind the winner.

Niskanen already pulled over 10 seconds on the first climb, and at 6.8 kilometers the gap had already stretched to almost 40 seconds.

At the intermediate time point of more than eight kilometers, Niskanen had already cut the gap to more than 45 seconds and was able to ski to the Finnish championship.

Niskanen told Yle that his skiing was quite good.

– The traditional track was quite slippery, yes there was work to be done, Niskanen said in an interview with Yle.

Hyvärinen commented to Yle that his skiing was soft.
