Iivo Niskanen, who was almost completely sidelined at the beginning of the season, is heading to the Tour that starts in Switzerland.
The Finnish national ski team announces that Iivo Niskanen participates in the Tour de Ski starting on New Year’s Eve. The Olympic hero will travel to Switzerland’s Val Müstair with the rest of the national team on Thursday. The Tour starts on Saturday with the sprint races.
Niskane’s early season has almost completely passed. He participated in the competitions organized on the Olos hill in 12–13. November, but had to miss the opening weekend of the World Cup in Ruka due to corona infection.
Niskanen has not competed during December. Outside the tracks, happiness has been brought to everyday life by a newborn baby boy.
The national ski team adds in its announcement that Arsi Ruuskanen has the flu and misses the Tour. Ruuskanen’s replacement will not be named.
They also stay at home Johanna Matintalo, Joni Mäki and Remi Lindholm.
The Tour de Ski starts on Saturday in Switzerland and ends on January 8 in Italy’s Val di Fiemme.
