The camping before the A-national team’s World Championships will continue after Easter in Joensuu and Kuopio. The week culminates in the Norwegian matches on Thursday and Friday, where the Lions will leave the Danish matches with a renewed line-up.
Attackers join the line-up from Denmark Valtteri Filppula, Jere Innala, Saku Mäenalanen, Toni Rajala, Jere Sallinen as well as defenders Atte Ohtamaa and Vili Saarijärvi.
– In Denmark, each field player was able to play two games. Now the size of the camp group is being increased. There will be five pitches involved next week when the club teams released us good reinforcements according to the line-up, GM Jere Lehtinen says.
The lion coaching leadership did not get all the players they wanted to join the camp.
– Iiro Pakarista we asked to join the camp, but he has to skip the camp and the race for personal reasons. Nuutti Viitasalo again, unfortunately, he was injured in Thursday’s match in Denmark and his season is over, Lehtinen says.
Pakarinen, 30, was part of the Lions Olympic team that won gold in Beijing. The winger played in the HIFK for the rest of the season.
Viitasalo, 23, who is enjoying his defense, played 53 regular season games at 8 + 15 = 23 in SaiPa this season.
The Norwegian matches will be played on Thursday 21.4. In Joensuu and on Friday 22.4. In Kuopio.
