Ihattaren been absent for two weeks, reason remains shadowy

The mystery surrounding the absence of Ajax player Mohamed Ihattaren is getting bigger by the day. For privacy reasons, the Amsterdam police cannot say anything about the alleged threats from the criminal circuit against Ajax footballer Mohamed Ihattaren. The club and the agent of the twenty-year-old Utrechter are also silent for the time being.

Ihattaren has been missing from Ajax for more than two weeks, officially because he is “not fit”. The Telegraph reported on Sunday evening that the Moroccan is absent due to threats from the criminal environment as a result of his relationship with a young woman. Security experts would therefore not consider it responsible to let him come to the club.

‘Nothing to do with crime’

Ihattaren himself posted a message on Instagram. He shared a post from his sister, in which she says: “We have nothing to do with crime and threats and are always super strong.” She also captioned a photo of Ihattaren, “well and back soon, little brother. We’re fine,” followed by the hashtag #believenotall. Ihattaren himself added: “I can sometimes laugh at the media.”

Ihattaren broke through at PSV a few seasons ago, but saw his career go into a downward spiral. He left for Juventus, who loaned him to Sampdoria, but he never played there. Ajax then picked him up. There he made a good impression on the new head coach Alfred Schreuder in preparation for the season. Ihattaren himself also said that he was on his way back after being in a mental slump and gaining a lot of weight. He nevertheless dropped out for the training camp in Austria more than two weeks ago. After that he stopped training at Ajax. (ANP)
