Fewer companies in Germany plan to increase their prices. “Inflation is therefore likely to continue its decline in the coming months,” said Ifo economics chief Timo Wollmershäuser on Wednesday.
Ifo price expectations fell to 15.0 points in February, after 18.8 points in January. The score is calculated by subtracting the percentage of companies that want to raise their prices from the percentage of those that want to lower their prices.
Especially in consumer-related industries, fewer companies, especially service providers, want to raise their prices. Price increases are expected to be lower, especially in accommodation as well as in art, entertainment and culture, as well as in catering. In retail, however, Ifo price expectations have increased slightly. (dpa)
