Locally, more than 10 centimeters can fall. Weer.nl even calls the situation comparable to that of February last year, when snowstorm Darcy hit the Netherlands.
April 1st? No, there really is snow
It is still hoped on social media that it is an April Fool’s Day joke, but weather experts seem to be really serious. And well, it’s not for nothing that they say ‘March stirs his tail’ and ‘April does what he wants’. Cold air is coming in, which brings a lot of precipitation. On Wednesday it is still regularly sunny and it feels like a maximum of 12 degrees. That already feels fresher than we were used to in recent weeks. In the night from Wednesday to Thursday, the cold air reaches our country and the first rain and wet snow fall.
Are weather models already making April 1 jokes?

snow storm
Thursday will be a chilly day at 3 degrees, with rain in the west and snow in the center and north. Later in the day it can even turn white everywhere in the Netherlands. It will also blow harder. It will continue to snow in the night from Friday to Saturday. The temperatures are then around the freezing point. Because it’s going to blow a lot, we can according to Weer.nl already speak of a blizzard, similar to Darcy.
Weather models stick to their #April 1st joke: #Snow† Friday morning (April 1) it could be white. Where and how much remains a mystery, but 10 cm in a single spot could just be possible. Especially Thursday evening-Friday morning periods with (wet) snow. pic.twitter.com/SO3lLcw30L

For snow lovers it is nice that there is still a bit of snow fun. But for the spring lovers there is also good news; the snow will make way for milder weather after the weekend.
