Ideas for the redesign of the Lohmühle stadium

The designs outline a stadium that can accommodate around 15,000 spectators with 8,000 seats. The young, prospective architects prepared their designs in the fifth semester according to the requirements of the German Football League. “The challenge for us was to work with new drawing programs with which we calculated the supporting structures,” says Annelene Wack. The architecture-Student adds: “It was particularly exciting for us that we were able to design such a large design here – unlike, for example, a single-family house.” The designs differ from the approach. “I think that’s particularly good,” says Ole Meyer.

The groups all approached the task differently. For example, we left the building in place,” adds Meyer.

The students were able to map the requirements of a stadium in special computer programs. “The students used the latest technologies in the field of computational design and engineering for the plans,” explains Prof. Michael Herrmann, who ran the course. “Our students have shown that they not only have the technical skills, but that they have also given more in-depth consideration to topics such as sustainability, modularity and the construction process,” adds Herrmann. The interest of VfB Luebeck fans is active. “Great work,” summarizes the Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Thomas Rehder.
