Ida Hulkko got mad at Jani Sievise – The legend realized that he had messed up: “This was my mistake”

Hulko thinks Sievinen is pulling the rug from under Finnish swimmers.

On Tuesday, Jani Sievinen wrote a post in the Threads messaging service that made swimmer Ida Hulko nervous.

In his account, Sievinen told about the statistical observations he had made at the beginning of the Olympic year.

– One Finnish performance among the top 200: Matti Mattsson 85th in 200m breaststroke, the Olympic medalist wrote.

Hulkko interfered with the statistics, which in his opinion were not true. He pointed out in the comments that Mattsson’s ranking in his parade trip is actually 27th, and in addition, Fanny Teijonsalo is 103rd in the 50-meter freestyle and Hulkko himself is 52nd in the 100-meter breaststroke.

After that, the woman from TaTU in Tampere shook the final cane of the kipka.

– I think it is relatively good to start the Olympic year from these starting points. I would hope that as a legend of Finnish swimming, you would try to cheer up and jeer the modern professionals instead of pulling the rug from under your feet, Hulkko uploaded.

A response to criticism

Sievinen was shocked when he heard about the rip-off from Iltalehti.

– It is not intended to pull the rug from under anyone. It’s not my job, he defended himself.

Sievinen realized that he had looked at the list, which included all the times of all the athletes, without paying attention to the statistics. Finns’ rankings are lower because there are several statistical quotations from the world’s top names above.

– Hello, Ida is right! Good, Ida, when you noticed, Sievinen agreed.

Why do you think that Hulkko has interpreted your actions as pulling the rugs from under you?

– I can’t say that. This is my mistake, the legend replied.

Do you think you’ve snubbed and booed athletes, as Hulko says you haven’t?

– I don’t think I have anything else to do when it comes to swimming, other than cheering them on. Namely. That’s the thing.

Do you think you did?

– Generally I am, of course. After all, this was such a statement about the situation we are in now. And this was my mistake.

Have you liked Hulkko?

– I have beaten everyone in the Finnish national team – including Ida. I’m a commentator on Eurosport.

However, according to Sievinen, correcting the statistics will not change the situation that prevails in Finnish swimming.

– The general picture has been known. It hasn’t changed at all. However, I do understand the results. When you look at the statistics that Ida told us, we have 3-4 swimmers with a chance of making it to the Olympics – as it would have been based on those false statistics as well.

Sievinen deleted his Threads post after the interview. He apologized for his mistake by commenting on Hulko’s publication.

– Sorry, Ida and others. I had the wrong filter on, so my statistics showed everyone’s swimming times. Good luck.
