ICT Payment: the digital solution that helps municipalities grow – Brand

Municipalities in the interior of the country face multiple complexities when it comes to collecting, while a changing political environment makes the scenario even more challenging. A low compliance rate, old collection systems and even difficulties with reconciliation and accountability are just some of the challenges.

Given this number of variables, it is essential that local governments analyze comprehensive strategies and solutions that address both their own needs and those of taxpayers. In these cases, technology is an indispensable ally when it comes to adapting to changes, achieving more efficient management and achieving transparency in processes.

Three towns in different parts of the country applied a digital solution that was successful for both citizens and governments. Through the adoption of the single payment button offered ICT payment, implemented a digital payment platform that allows you to comply with tax obligations from any place and time, even for those who do not reside in the localities. In addition, the system makes it possible to join automatic debit to pay with any form of payment, without forgetting or delays.

Villa La Angostura

The Municipality of Villa La Angostura began using the Pago TIC single payment button at the end of August 2022. In the fourth month since the implementation of the platform, 1,328 transactions were registered for a total collection of thirteen million pesos.

“Using this payment system, Angostura residents or those who own assets in the city can pay their taxes digitally. This tool is not only agile, comfortable and simple for taxpayers, but it also allows us to unify collection and have a report of tax revenue,” highlighted Mario Caló, Head of the Systems and Modernization Office of the Municipality.

“This has an impact on increased collection, since it is possible to pay taxes from any point in the country,” he noted.

Cafferata

Cafferata is a Santa Fe commune that began implementing ICT Payment solutions at the same time as Villa La Angostura. The town adopted the single payment button and the automatic debit service, offering taxpayers different payment methods to pay their taxes.

“Our goal was to modernize the community’s payment method by providing the best service, comfort and security. We opted for ICT Payment technology since it gives us the possibility of reaching all taxpayers who are not currently located or residing in the town,” said Juan Valloire, Secretary of Government of the commune.

During the first month, transactions for forty thousand pesos were carried out in the town, while in December of last year a collection of one million pesos was achieved due to the moratorium launched.

San Antonio de Arredondo

The municipality of San Antonio de Arredondo also highlighted its experience being part of this change in collection. In five months, the town collected more than two million pesos, while registering more than 700 transactions.

“This payment system provides access to more taxpayers who are not local, simplicity in payment management since it allows taxes to be paid to those who live or work outside of San Antonio de Arredondo, and speed in reconciling them, everything centralized in one place,” said Sandra Ferracante, General Director of the Municipal Entity of Works and Services of San Antonio (Emossa).

DEBIN in municipalities: a payment method that drives success

A key tool in optimizing payments, mainly in municipalities, has been DEBIN (immediate debit), a system that allows payment with a direct transfer between accounts. Unlike a conventional bank transfer, the person who initiates it is not the one who sends the money, but rather the one who receives it.

In this case, the collector requests payment indicating the payer’s CBU, and the payer receives an instant notification to confirm and complete the transaction. Its main advantage is that it is credited immediately.

It should be noted that Pago TIC has all payment methods, aiming to allow each user to choose how and when to pay. For this reason, in addition to charging with credit and debit cards, CBU and coupon cards, it offers DEBIN, a payment method by bank account with real-time approval, ideal for high amounts.

It is a simple method that allows you to collect or make electronic payments, 100% online and secure. This tool is intended to streamline direct debits, which can take up to 48 hours.

In the context of municipalities, the identification of the user that DEBIN allows is key, mainly in transfers of large amounts. This feature not only simplifies reconciliation, optimizing municipal administration, but also plays a fundamental role in strengthening security.

DEBIN is a more secure tool for payers, since its transfer includes all data; and more efficient for institutions, because with Pago TIC they can see the payments reflected in the general reconciliation, along with the other transactions. Meanwhile, the possibility of clearly identifying the user promotes transparency, strengthening trust for both citizens and local authorities.
