In 2020, left strongman competitions for a couple of years Hafthor Björnsson returned to the strongman kinkers convincingly. His personal high throw record of 25.4 kilograms (56 pounds), set at the 2022 Rogue Invitational Record Breakers, was broken over the weekend. The height bar was 6.17 meters in the record throw.

The Icelander, who also set records in the cross-country, did not yet promise a more permanent return, but it is certainly not impossible.

– It’s tempting to come back – especially to a show like this. You never know. I haven’t made a decision yet, but I might make a comeback, Björnsson said.

Boxing rings behind

Björnsson has focused on boxing in recent years. However, he has said that he is leaving the boxing ring, because the real passion is found in strength sports. The record holder has hinted that he would return to powerlifting to compete in December.

During his boxing years, Björnsson has lost weight. When making a more permanent comeback, the Icelander would be one of the favorites to win even more titles in strongman competitions.
