The German group opponent Denmark made the start of the ice hockey world championship on the second day of the tournament for the first victory. The team led by Berlin masters Nicholas Jensen and Frans Nielsen beat Kazakhstan 9-1 (3-0, 4-0, 2-1) in Group A in Helsinki.
Blichfeld with a hat-trick for Denmark
AHL-Pro Joachim Blichfeld shone with the Danes with the first hat trick of the 85th title fights, the 23-year-old scored all goals in the power play. Frederik Storm from ERC Ingolstadt from the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) scored the meanwhile 4-0 for the tenth in the world rankings, who will meet the German national team next Thursday.
The selection of national coach Toni Söderholm meets Kazakhstan in the penultimate group game on May 22nd. The top four teams in each of the two groups of eight advance to the quarterfinals.
Switzerland, also group opponents of the German team, started with a clear 5:2 win over Italy.
