Ice hockey players Amsterdam Tigers bend a fast backlog and remain the leader

The Amsterdam Tigers won 7-3 against their direct competitor Leeuwarden Capitals tonight. For a long time it was exciting in the Jaap Edenhal, but in the end the Amsterdam ice hockey players convinced.

The game started anything but smooth for the capitals. After just over one minute of play, Tycho Houben gave the guests the lead. The Tigers struggled to get into their game in the opening phase. Still, captain Calvin Pohlman leveled his team halfway through the first period.

Just under five minutes later, the team from Amsterdam fell behind again. The discontent was clearly audible from the reserve bench. Michael Mackie Kwist and Nijs Hille reassured the coaches again. Both scored a goal, which allowed them to rest with a lead.

Stylish Czech

In the second period, Amsterdam got more control over the game. It did concede a goal, but hits from Alexander Karol, Donny Pohlman and a stylish goal from Czech Petr Novák quickly brought the game to a close: 6-3.

”In the end I’m happy with the three points”

In the last period, coach Ondrej Kratky’s team ran out to 7-3. The Czech coach had mixed feelings afterwards. “The start was not ideal, but we got better and better at our game. In the third period the boys showed what I want to see. In the end I am happy with the three points,” said Kratky.

Captain Pohlman was also satisfied. “In the end, we crossed the line. That is the most important thing. Sometimes we lacked sharpness. Then you concede a quick goal. Fortunately, we had the capacity to turn that around.”
