Düsseldorfer EG was also from Straubing in the DEL Tigers unstoppable and joins the race for last place Pre-Playoffs-Place back.
The Düsseldorfer EC has an exciting game on Thursday (January 25th, 2024) against Straubing Tigers won 5:3 (1:2, 3:0, 1:1) and secured their fourth win in a row. With 48 points, DEG is now only one point behind last place Pre-playoffs.

Straubing deserves to be in the lead
The game started relatively slowly – but after seven minutes the Düsseldorf hall shook: Ollschefski used a great pass to take the lead. The Düsseldorfers fans were still celebrating when they were suddenly brought out of their celebration. The lead only lasted 29 seconds – Braun fired a strong wrist shot into the short corner.
Straubing then dominated the game. After a quarter of an hour they had Tigers With 11:2 shots on goal, they were clearly ahead – and were rewarded three minutes before the third break. Lipon completed a counterattack while outnumbered to give the visitors the lead. Despite the guests’ dominance, DEG had a great chance to equalize 40 seconds before the end of the first period: Hunter Miska parried brilliantly against Victor Svensson, who appeared free in front of him.
Cumiskey turns the game around again
Four minutes had passed in the middle period when DEG equalized the lead. Svensson curved into the Straubing zone at speed and passed to Cumiskey. His shot landed in the top right corner. Hendrik Hane in the Düsseldorf goal prevented the third Tigers-Hit (30th), the other side hesitated Brendan O’Donnell too long to finish (32nd). Then it was Düsseldorf’s turn again. Cumiskey used a dream pass from Philip Gogulla to give DEG the lead.

Ehl makes the decision
The final third initially offered relatively little danger. The promising attack situations were taken by both teams not played well. Sinan Akdag had to go to the penalty box around twelve minutes before the end for tripping. The Tigers were now in the majority and took advantage of this with a shot Connolly falsified, to the connection. The guests then pressed for the equalizer.
But Gogulla once again stepped on the brakes on Straubing’s euphoria. First the Düsseldorfer left two Tigers get out, then he put via “no look” on colleague Ehl, who went around Miska and pushed in the fifth goal. A few seconds before the end, Straubing was unlucky when the puck jumped from one inside post to the other but didn’t land in the goal.
