Ice hockey vice world champion Germany will present itself to the fans again in November at the Germany Cup, and for the first time in Landshut. A women’s tournament will also be held at the same time – this is a world premiere.

The Germany Cup will take place in Bavaria again this year. As announced by the German Ice Hockey Federation (DEB), the four-country tournament will be held in Landshut from November 8th to 12th after five years in Krefeld. Parallel to the men, the women’s national team will also play a tournament in Landshut for the first time.

“Two senior national teams playing their respective tournaments at the same time at one location is a world premiere,” said DEB Vice President Andreas Niederberger: “We are very grateful to the Landshut location for accepting the challenge of an international tournament with us with four women’s and four men’s teams.”

Women’s Tournament – “Step in the right direction”

After their silver coup at the World Championships in May, the German men will meet Denmark, Austria and Slovakia in the 34th edition of the tournament. The women compete against the national teams of Finland and the Czech Republic, with another opponent to be announced.

“Of course it’s huge to play a tournament parallel to the Germany Cup, and in an ice hockey town like Landshut at that,” said national player Celina Haider: “It’s a big step in the right direction because we have the opportunity to advance in a big setting with a hopefully unique atmosphere.”
