ice hockey | Ex-Hanover star dies in accident

Ice hockey professional Mike Hammond, who was also active in Germany, died in a traffic accident at the age of just 33.

As confirmed by the world association IIHF, the former player of the Lausitzer Füchse and Hannover Scorpions died on Wednesday in the small town of Shawnigan Lake on Vancouver Island in western Canada.

The British international Hammond had played for the Foxes (2019/20) and Scorpions (2020/21) in Germany. “The entire Scorpions family is in mourning. Our sympathy goes to his family and relatives,” said Hanover, with the foxes also condoling.
