The Grizzlies counter. First Feser takes a shot from the right side from around three meters, Niederberger parries the shot with the pad to the left and O’Connor reacts quickest and pushes the target at the second post over the middle of the line to make it 1-2.

The Upper Bavarians are now settling into the final third. First Fischer tries a wrist shot from the left face-off, but Strahlmeier parries the shot to the left. Then Abeltshauser tries a slap shot from the left boards, but the Wolfsburg goalie is careful again.

And again the EHC comes into the attacking third with speed. The disc comes to DeSousa and he takes a one-timer with a wrist shot from the right face-off – Strahlmeier is there with the saver!

After a slap shot on the right side, Parkes first takes the shot at the second post, but Strahlmeier is there and parries the shot with his left pad. The disc falls at Abelshauser’s feet in the slot in the center and he reacts quickest and hits the disc into the middle of the goal to make it 2-0.

And the hosts again! After a pass from Wilkie’s path, the Grizzly player runs alone towards Niederberger and wants to pass the disc past him on the left. But Niederberger stays put for a long time and ends up being the winner in the duel.

And the guests again! Nikolaus Heigl passes the disc sharply from the left side to the second post. Eder runs in there and fails because of Strahlmeier.

The Grizzlies force the screen again. The Wolfsburg team are still strong and aggressive in forechecking and are now forcing the puck into the attacking third. Archibald tries it from a central position around four meters, but Niederberger is there.

The EHC again. After a pass from Eder from the center to the right side, Parkes tries a one-timer from close range. Once again Strahlmeier is there and parries the target to the left of the box.

Offensive start from both teams. Both teams looked for a way into the attacking third from the start and repeatedly found opportunities to finish in the slot. Wolfsburg had a little more of the game in the last few minutes.

Schinko captures the puck on the left side in the neutral zone and passes the puck to Feser in the center on the right. He hits the goal with his backhand, but fails because of Niederberger. The goalie lets the disc bounce and Schinko shoots from the right at the second post – but only hits the side netting!

And then suddenly the puck is in the goal. Blum simply pulls from the center, almost from the blue line. His wrist shot is slightly hidden and Strahlmeier can only see the target late and the hard rubber flies into the bottom right corner of the goal.

What an opportunity! After a deep pass from his own zone into the neutral zone to Smith, he runs freely and alone towards Strahlmeier. He wants to put the disc past the goalie to the right. The puck slides towards the goal, sticks to the line and Strahlmeier reacts quickly and pushes the hard rubber off the line.

The Starting Six are here. At Wolfsburg, Strahlmeier stands between the posts. Ramage, Zajac, Dumont, Beaudin and Fauser are also there. Niederberger starts again in goal at the EHC. MacWilliam, Bittner, DeSousa, Hager and Kastner are also there in the front row.

The two teams have already met twice this season. The Grizzlys won their first meeting in October 1-0 in Munich. About three weeks ago there was a 2-1 win for Upper Bavaria.

EHC Munich is also in fifth place in the DEL with 52 points. From the last five games, last season’s champions only won two and suffered three defeats. Among other things, head coach Toni Söderholm’s team lost 2-1 against Ingolstadt and 2-1 against Bremerhaven after a penalty shootout. However, there were two wins against Iserlohn (3:2) and the Schwenninger Wild Wings (3:0). Most recently, the Munich team suffered a 2:4 defeat against the Straubing Tigers.
