The Iserlohn Roosters celebrated their second win of the season in the DEL in a wild game against the Kölner Haie.
The Roosters won 5: 4 (2: 2, 2: 0, 1: 2) on Thursday evening (October 6th, 2022), but remain in the table basement. For Cologne, the fourth bankruptcy of the season is a setback in the fight for the playoffs.
The Haie got off to a good start, Julian Chrobot scoring the opening goal after just three minutes. But three more goals were scored in a turbulent first third: Eric Cornel equalized for Iserlohn, Carter Proft brought Cologne back into the lead, and shortly before the break Ryan O’Connor then equalized again with a majority. That apparently gave the Roosters momentum, John Broda and Kris Foucault scored in the second half of the game to make it 4-2.
Sharks come twice – Iserlohn still wins
The Haie tried everything again in the final third, playing six against three at times and scoring again five minutes before the final whistle through Andreas Thuresson. Lean Bergman then managed the supposedly reassuring 5:3 for the Roosters, but it was still not over in the ice rink at the Seilersee. In the final minute, Alexander Oblinger reduced the lead to 5:4, but that was all it could take.
